About Us

Vision & Mission

At Women in CTRL, our vision is an equitable music industry where leadership, creativity, and influence reflect the full diversity of talent. Our mission is to dismantle systemic barriers for women and gender-expansive individuals through data-driven advocacy, strategic partnerships, and transformative leadership development.

We champion structural change by publishing rigorous research, delivering leadership and creative development programs, and fostering accountability across industry stakeholders. Women in CTRL exists to shift power, build inclusive cultures, and amplify historically silenced voices in music.

Our Story

Founded in 2020 by Nadia Khan, Women in CTRL emerged from a critical need for representation, transparency, and systemic reform within the music industry.

After two decades of navigating the music business — from artist management to chart-topping independent releases — Nadia recognised that success was too often gatekept, especially for women and marginalised communities.

What began as a grassroots initiative has evolved into a nationally recognised force for change. From publishing the widely cited Seat at the Table report to launching pioneering programs in leadership, mentorship, and creative development, Women in CTRL continues to reshape what inclusion and equity look like in practice
